Where in the %#@$# is Galveston??

We have been waiting to buy a house because Dan was supposed to be a getting a new project and we wanted to know which side of Portland to live on. IT'S A GOOD THING we waited.

The boss brought Dan into his office last week. Started off with, "Well Dan, I've got an assignment, an opportunity, and an adventure all in one." He proceeded to tell him he needed him to help build a Hanger in Galveston, Texas...and get this.....they want him there NEXT WEEK!

So we are moving to TEXAS! I still can't believe it, we are both freaking out a little (ok...a lot).

The good thing...Dan has a brother in Houston and we are excited to be close to them. Otherwise, I think I would be freaking out a lot more. We are excited though and we hear Galveston Island is a great vacation spot...(hint..hint)

So, in case you are wondering...here is where we will be living the next 10 months.

one amazing lady

Well…due to popular demand (and just because I want to brag about my wife) this post goes out to one pretty amazing lady…my wife. It was her birthday yesterday and she turned the big 27. That’s only 3 years away from 30 and Kristan doesn’t like that. However, Kristan shouldn’t worry about stuff like that because she is one HOT MAMA!

So here goes…27 things Dan Loves about Kristan:

1. She loves her family; Mom, Dad, SISTERS, and brothers.
2. She loves her kids
3. She loves being a mommy
4. She is pretty easy on the eyes to look at
5. She is a great cook...even her meat loaf is GOOOOoooOOOD!
6. She has a great sense of humor, she is always laughing at my jokes
7. She holds the high score on our song on Guitar Hero III. That’s pretty good
8. She is a great friend - to me and many others
9. She is very hard working, she always has something going
10. She is possibly the sweetest thing ever
11. Her high school mascot was the Alf-Alfa Green Wave – a.k.a. “the gerca”
12. Our nephews call her “Chocolate Mommy” because she used to were a brown sweater
13. She twitches in her sleep when she gets comfy
14. She takes most/all of the mid-night feedings
15. When she is not feeling well she looks at me with a pouty face and says “just shoot me!”
16. She is a fabulous singer and sings to me sometimes
17. She has a FAN-tastic smile…dimple and all
18. She went crazy when David Archuleta was singing at the American Idols Live concert. I thought she was 13 again.
19. She loves Fire Roasted Artichokes
20. She loves to camp; she is actually pretty hard core
21. She loves to go to church…even when she has to teach 10 three year olds
22. She is really smart and always got better grades then I did
23. She is SUPER patient with a not so perfect husband
24. She is a great partner in crime when it comes to pulling practical jokes
25. She is an awesome travel buddy, you can talk to her for hours
26. She fits so nicely in my arms
27. She is with me instead of with some other shmuck!

american idols

For an anniversary/early b-day present Dan surprised me with American Idols Live tickets. It really was a fun concert and we had pretty good seats. He even went with me and was a great sport. Thanks sweetie! Here they all are (the top 10). The night would not have been complete without matching David Archuleta t-shirts. OH YEAH!

Birthday boy

since we did 3 things for Maggie's birthday...I figure we better do 28 for dan's so here goes.....
28 things we love about Dan:
1. very fun and witty...always keeps us laughing 2. can quote movies like no other 3. lives for driving fast cars 4. is quite the mr. fix it. I had no idea I married such a handy man 5. can put down more food than anyone I know and in record time! 6. has some pretty fly dance moves....(a lot of people don't know this about dan) 7. he can name all of the care bears even better than maggie can(we recently figured this one out on maggie's birthday) 8. is still collecting G.I. Joes to this day 9. is loved and adored by many nieces and nephews...because he spends time building things and running around with them 10. he is tall...and yes is good at basketball 11. being so tall....he can give maggie the best piggy backs ever. how many kids get to go up that high? 12. he is a great story teller13. he likes to talk in his sleep 14. he has a talent for video games 15. he works hard 16. he is a good fisherman....and proved that to my family by staying out all day fishing so he could catch more than anyone (they tease him for being a "city boy") 17. he is a great painter and has an eye for interior decorating 18. he likes to talk in his sleep 19. he is a BIG kid 20. he sings maggie to sleep at night....whatever she requests (and she always wants him to put her to bed...mom just doesn't cut it) 21. maggie loves his talent for impersonating cartoon characters 22. he can sew better than I can (i may get in trouble for this one) 23. he is a great singer even though he would never admit it 24. he shed some tears when KG got choked up after the Celtics won the NBA championship 25. lincoln likes to just sit and chill with him 26. maggie loves the days that daddy doesn't have to go to work 27. he will hide with maggie in her little butterfly tent (that he barely fits in) 28. he really is great....coming up with 28 things was quite easy and i could go on...

first hair cut

so yesterday maggie came to me with scissors in hand asking me to "take it off!" (meaning her hair) i guess it kept getting in the way while she was playing with her toys. so I decided....maybe it's time. aunt meggy helped me give her a trim today. it actually looks pretty cute and after taking off a couple of inches...it is still pretty long. i did shed a couple of tears though.

Maggie Moo

3 things we love about her:
1. how she sings all day long....either singing the songs she knows or making up her own
2. how she waits by the window when she knows daddy is on his way home and gives him the best "welcome home" ever!
3. how she can make her little brother laugh easier than anyone else. he sure loves her.
