just tryin to keep cool

I have decided that people who have babies in the middle of August are just plain CRAZY. I am dieing already and it doesn't even get THAT hot here. The kids are sure loving that they can play outside on a regular basis though.
We invested in a kiddie pool today. Then we had our friends Sam & Ryan over to play with us.
Maggie and Sam.
Look at that big boy...he is seriously a brick. It is getting tough to haul him around these days.
Ryan & Lincoln cheesin it up a bit.

Turned out to be a pretty fun time. We'll definitely be doing a lot more of this.

stinkin birds

I have been SO excited about the new garden boxes we put in. Yesterday we even saw some seed sprouting going on and my squash and tomato plants were growing like a charm.

Last night as I was looking out the window, I noticed a sneaky little bird nibbling on my squash. I ran outside and chased him off. Luckily he only got a few leaves off. I look over....WHERE ARE MY TOMATO PLANTS? Gone. All gone. Those stinkin birds...I could just SCREAM!
Now I am completely paranoid about the birds in my yard and have been chasing them off all morning. So....what do I do?? Anybody have any suggestions? How DO you get rid of pesky little birds and keep them from eating the garden? We are ready to invest in a nice pellet gun...don't think the neighbors would be too happy about that one. Also, will little nibbled off stubbs of tomato plants still grow...or do I need to plant new ones? Help me out here.

breakin the rules

About 4 years ago at my baby shower someone gave me the advice to NEVER let my children sleep in bed with me. I am proud to say that in 4 years...not ONCE have my kids slept with us. Until last night. Lincoln was having some trouble breathing, his wheezing was scaring me and I couldn't hear his breathing well enough on the baby monitor. So yes...I did it. He slept with us for a couple hours.....JUST until I knew he could breathe ok. While in bed he kept requesting that I sing "twinkle twinkle little star" over and over. When he sounded like he was going to survive the night....STRAIGHT back to bed with him.

I guess it was quite a treat. All morning he has been hanging out in our bed singing "tinkle tinkle." Sorry buddy...you are so very cute, and I love you....but no more monkeys in mommy and daddy's bed tonight!

where we've been

We (Maggie, Lincoln, & I) made a trip to Fallon last week. It was fun to see everyone and we were lovin the BEAUTIFUL weather. My kids experienced their very first 4-H show, we swam, played with cousins and friends, rode horses, collected rollie pollies, got a stomach bug, hung out with Grandma and Grandpa, and ate PIZZA BARN. Couldn't have asked for more. Except that Dan could have been there with us, that I would have taken more pictures, and minus the stomach flu part. Here are a couple of pictures I did take:
Lounging on Mylee's Dora couch. Quite the hot spot.

Enjoying the 80 degree weather.

Maggie's new best friend, Rose.

We already miss everyone, but it's good to be with Daddy again!

here HE is

Our 20 week ultrasound was today.
It's a BOY!
We are very excited.
Maggie cried (she already had her "little sister" named)...but she is getting used to the idea.
Dan is making plans for his future basketball duo (Lincoln & Baby).
I have NO idea what I will name this baby.
Can you see that little face?
